Maruti Suzuki temporarily closes SX4 production

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), the country’s largest car maker, has temporarily stopped the production of its mid-sized sedan SX4.

MSI’s sedan SX4 failed to attract customers although it cost less than Honda City, who is presently the market leader. As per the statement issued by the company official, MSI will revise SX$ engine with a new Bharat Stage-IV engine, and also bring some change in the looks by the next few weeks.

The Supreme Court has allowed TVS Motor Company to sell its bike ‘Flame’. A legal dispute took place between TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto, as Bajaj Auto Co said that TVS Motor was illegally using its technology of twin spark plugs in their bikes and thus TVS Motor Company should not be permitted to manufacture and sell ‘Flame’ bike.

The superbike, which is named as ‘V Max’, will be priced at Rs 20 lakh.

The new bike has 1679cc engine. The company is hoping to acquire 10% market share in India by 2012.

Company’s top official told reporters that they are anticipating 3 times growth in sales during the upcoming festival season.

TVS Motors net profit zooms 157% to Rs 18.11 crore in Q1

TVS Motor Company, India's third largest two-wheeler maker, has bounced back this fiscal on account of improved sales. The company's net profit surged 157% to Rs
18.11 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal, as compared to Rs 7.02 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

Net sales of the company rose 7% to Rs 975.62 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal. The other operating income touched Rs 13.07 crore. Profit from operations before other income grew by 93% to Rs 37.19 crore.
