Apollo to invest Rs 1,400 crore on expansion

Medical care provider Apollo Health and Lifestyle has announced that it intends to pump around Rs 1,400 crore in the coming three to four fiscals on diversifying its footprints across the country with its different formats.

According to the sources, the conglomerate will pump Rs 600 crore in developing around 30 hospitals in Tier II cities across the country under the brand 'Reach Hospitals' and Rs 600 crore to enhance the number of Apollo Clinics to 300 in a period of three to four years.

The sources further revealed that the conglomerate is also spending Rs 200 crore on expanding network of maternity hospital chain, under the brand, Cradle.

While commenting on the plans, Mr Ratan Jalan, CEO of Apollo Healt h and Lifestyle stated, “The Reach Hospitals are specifically designed hospitals for the Tier II cities and some of them would have specialised services such as cardiology or cancer care and each of them would costs around Rs 20 crore, excluding real estate costs.”

The company claims that the proposed hospitals will be equipped with a capacity of around 100 beds and would require an investment of around Rs 20 crore each.

The company is also eyeing to enhance the number of Apollo Clinics to 300 from the present 45 within a period of three to four fiscals.
